“They were two at the base and only one tested positive for the coronavirus”, explains the correspondent of France 24 in Algeria, Moncef Ait-Kaci. “The patient was immediately transferred to the Institut Pasteur in Algiers because, still according to Abderrahmane Benbouzid, the examinations confirmed the suspect case.” The man was placed in quarantine.
“The minister assured that all the necessary and preventive measures have been taken to treat this patient of Italian origin according to the standards and stages which are currently being undertaken in the world”, specifies our correspondent. “For the moment, the authorities say they have mastered the situation.”
The Ministry of Health thus assured to have “reinforced the device of prevention around the confirmed case, and the device of surveillance and watch at the level of all the points of entry” in Algeria.
The only confirmed case to date in Africa has been identified in Egypt.
