Dries Van Noten: flowers, colors and glitter for the “party girl”

– Published on:

Belgian stylist Dries Van Noten gave a lesson on mixing colors, textures, and prints on Wednesday in a parade in Paris celebrating the “party girl”.

Beige and black cardigan under a short gray checkered coat surmounting a red fringed skirt: the tone is set from the first look of the fall-winter 2020-2021 collection of this kind of prints.

In a slightly melancholic atmosphere, the parade at the Bastille opera house is accompanied by the song “Party Girl” (party girl) by Michelle Gurevich, who talks about a “fragile” girl who has become “wild” and repeats in chorus that no creative activity makes sense if you don’t have fun.

A gigantic, hybrid flower of necklace and scarf accessorizes this outfit.

Color is added to makeup, with pink and blue shadows on the eyelids and in bright spots – red, purple or yellow on straightened hair.

The tiles are mixed with floral and reptile prints.

Perfectos or leather bomber jackets break the glamor of sequins bringing a modern balance.

Orange, purple, burgundy and petrol blue coexist in these vitamin looks with slender silhouettes.

The body is covered by long dresses worn on heeled or wedge boots or by overlapping pieces.

– Guy Laroche eco-friendly

Richard Rene, artistic director of the French house Guy Laroche for his part gave up the parade to present only twelve pieces created from vintage clothes of the brand that he had bought in second-hand shops or on the internet for “a reduced budget “of 2,500 euros.

“I dyed them, re-cut them, sewn them to make clothes for 2021,” he told AFP.

An old Guy Laroche fur coat “cut in all directions” thus gave rise to a sweater, a T-shirt, two pairs of boots and a pair of pumps.

A printed silk dress was cut and sewn with black varnished belts unearthed at fleas.

“I think there are too many clothes, we buy and we do not wear them. It is time that we see things differently,” concludes the stylist.
