Former world No.1 Kim Clijsters, who returned to the courts ten days ago in Dubai after a seven-year absence, will take part in the Indian Wells (California) tournament in March and has extended an invitation.
The 36-year-old Belgian, winner of four Grand Slam titles, lost in the 1st round in Dubai 6-2, 7-6 (8/6), where she was also invited, against the Spanish Garbine Muguruza, 16th world player and finalist of the last Australian Open.
Before Indian Wells (March 9-22), a tournament she won in 2003 and 2005 and in which she participated for the last time in 2011, Clijsters will compete in the Monterrey tournament in Mexico (March 2-8).
Clijsters moved away from the courts for the first time in late 2007 to marry and give birth to her first child (she has three today). In 2009, she made a resounding comeback during which she won three of her four Grand Slam titles (United States Open 2009 and 2010 and Australian Open 2011).
She retired a second time in 2012 after being eliminated in the second round of the United States Open.
