Copenhagen (TEH) – Denmark could gradually move away from its strict measures against the new corona virus in mid-April.
The measures against the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus had an effect, the head of government said. It looks like the virus is spreading more slowly than feared in the country. “This is a sign of cautious optimism.” Frederiksen pointed out that the Danes should be prepared to go to work and school at different times. Nothing will change for the time being at the border closures, added the Social Democrat.
Denmark reacted particularly early to the Corona crisis with strict measures, among other things, the borders of the German neighboring country have been closed to foreigners without a valid reason for entry since March 14. Schools, kindergartens, restaurants, cafes, theaters and other leisure facilities such as gyms and tanning salons are also closed. There is also a public ban on meetings for more than ten people.
Frederiksen had extended the measures up to and including Easter a week ago. At the weekend she wrote on Facebook that she neither hoped nor believed that it would take months for Denmark to gradually reopen.
By Monday evening, more than 2500 cases of infection had been confirmed in Denmark. However, it is assumed that the number of unreported cases is significantly higher. To date, 77 Covid-19 patients have died in the country.
