FSV Mainz 05 saves ten million euros

Mainz – Because of the coronavirus crisis, FSV Mainz 05 has completely revised its economic planning for the currently suspended season and identified a savings potential of around ten million euros.

“In order to be prepared for potential revenue losses in the current season, we have to turn the club completely on the left,” said the Mainz club and CEO Stefan Hofmann in a message.

Table 15 stops to realize the savings. with immediate effect all unnecessary or mandatory expenses. Players, coaches as well as athletic and commercial executives waive the payment of a salary share in the months of April to June, and the honorary members of the supervisory board do not pay their allowances.

In addition, about three-quarters of permanent employees in all areas of the association go into short-time work from April. In order to cushion the financial cuts for the employees, the 05ers increased the short-time allowance. «The key message is: we can weather the crisis this season together. The cuts are painful and a real stress test for us, but the measures help the club enormously, »said Hofmann.
