More than 100 corona patients from Europe in Germany

Berlin (TEH) – German hospitals have now admitted 119 patients infected with the coronavirus from EU partner countries.

85 of these were brought to Germany from congested French areas, 32 from Italy and two from the Netherlands. 49 more beds are reserved for sick people from Italy, and 13 more for France. The Foreign Office informed the German Press Agency on request.
Only on Wednesday were six Corona patients from Italy brought to Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia. Italy is the most affected by the pandemic in the European Union with more than 110,000 people infected. According to the Johns Hopkins University, France has almost 58,000 infected people in the USA, making it the country with the fourth most cases behind Italy, Spain, and Germany, while the Netherlands has registered almost 14,000 infected people.
Some of the patients from other EU countries were transported to Germany with the Bundeswehr Air Force. In Naples, Italy, a team of doctors and nurses from the Jena University Hospital has also been on duty since Wednesday. According to the Federal Foreign Office, seven tons of relief supplies – including ventilators and breathing masks – have already been sent to Italy. Further deliveries are promised. Discussions were still ongoing on specific needs.
Germany has also offered Spain to admit intensive care patients to German clinics. The Spanish government has not yet taken up this offer, since the focus is currently still on the redistribution of patients within Spain, according to the Federal Foreign Office. However, there is a private aid initiative by the Helios clinic group, which sent a team of five doctors and one nurse and respirators to Madrid on Monday.
