Berlin – Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) has returned to the Chancellery after two weeks of corona quarantine. As government spokesman Steffen Seibert said, she has resumed business personally at the government headquarters.

Of course, the existing distance regulations would be observed there. She talks to other heads of government by phone or video. “Now the work continues from the Chancellery,” said Seibert.

Merkel had three corona tests done, all three of which were negative. However, she had initially carried out the official business from her domestic quarantine in order to comply with the usual two-week quarantine.

Merkel had been there since March 22, after being informed that she was in contact with a doctor on March 20, who had then tested positive for the coronavirus. The doctor had vaccinated Merkel preventively against pneumococci.
