London – The fight for the heavyweight boxing crown between British world champion Anthony Joshua and his Bulgarian challenger Kubrat Pulew has been postponed indefinitely due to the corona crisis.
The fight for the world championships of the world boxing associations IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO was to take place on June 20 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. A new date for the event is currently being worked on, Joshua’s promoter Matchroom Boxing said on Friday.
Joshua had the rematch against Andy Ruiz jr. contested at the gates of the Saudi capital Riyadh and the WBA, WBO and IBF world champion belts were retrieved. Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn then admitted that he had chosen the controversial host country primarily because of the high fee. Joshua alone is said to have collected the equivalent of more than 65 million euros.
