MAINZ – The country wants to set up its own aid program for clubs and associations that have been financially damaged by the Corona crisis. Interior Minister Roger Lewentz (SPD) announced on Friday the presidiums of the sports associations in Rhineland-Palatinate after coordination with the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economic Affairs in Mainz.
This offer is intended to supplement the federal Corona emergency aid program for smaller companies. Sports clubs with business operations are fundamentally included in this funding, says Lewentz.
The corona crisis would also result in a financial loss of income for sport because competitions and club offer, as well as other events, cannot be held. This could lead to livelihood threats or even bankruptcy for clubs with inevitable payment obligations.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, there is already a priority for associations with an economic business area to submit funding applications to the Investment and Structural Bank for funding from the federal program Corona Immediate Help for Small Businesses. The processing of the state program is coordinated between the state and sports associations after the specific needs have been ascertained.
