    Rutting starred in 45 cinema and television films. Born and raised in Brandenburg, she made her breakthrough in 1951 with her debut in the film “Postlagernd Turteltaube”. Her role as “Geierwally” in the 1956 film of the same name is legendary. She also demonstrated her talent on many stages before she stopped acting in 1984.

    Ruttgen trained as a health consultant. With her guides and cookbooks for whole foods, she is considered a pioneer of vegetarian nutrition in Germany. In politics – first, with the Greens, for whom she was a member of the Bavarian state parliament for six years, and most recently with the V-party – she was particularly committed to the issues of animal and environmental protection.
