VG WONNEGAU – Despite Corona, the Wonnegau community continues to push ahead with its important projects. Above all, the construction of a new primary school and gymnasium on the outdoor area next to the Wonnegauhalle, where the Corona test tent is currently being set up. A meeting of the local council was supposed to take place on Monday. It was canceled for known reasons. Instead, council members should vote on different resolutions by email. 34 of the 37 members of the council with voting rights also noticed this. Among other things, the planned new buildings that are to be realized on the areas that the community will take over from the city.
The heating of the new buildings was also voted on. With four votes against and one abstention, the council decided to install a gas-powered combined heat and power plant. It is to be supplemented by sharing the gas boiler system in the neighboring Wonnegauhalle. For the community, this has the advantage that it does not have to build new rooms for gas boilers. Instead, the VG will take over the existing heating system in the Wonnegauhalle and act as operator of the entire heating system – i.e. also bear the costs if new gas boilers have to be purchased in a few years.
The community sees the advantage of a combined heat and power plant above all that the electricity produced at the same time can be used for the own needs of the new school, the new hall or the Wonnegauhalle. In addition, the cogeneration unit does not have to store fuel, so there is no need to build a fuel store. The electricity fed in by the combined heat and power plant is to be billed proportionally depending on where it is used. Details are to be regulated in a contract with the city of Osthofen, ”it said in the draft resolution for the council members.
Decisions were also made regarding the planned flat roofs of the two buildings to be built. Here, the local council voted in favor of having the roofs (a total of around 3600 square meters) built as green roofs as possible – even if this means additional costs of around 40 euros per square meter. Costs that you want to save in return when dimensioning the rainwater systems. “The ecological effect is also positive since the rainwater is returned directly to the evaporation via the retention directly on the roof,” it says.
It is not possible to green the roofs where a photovoltaic system is planned. The association is planning to generate energy for its own consumption in connection with an electricity storage system. The Council also agreed to this, as did installing a ventilation system in the primary school and sports hall.
By the way: Since it is also known in the VG administration that council votes by e-mail, as they have now been made, do not comply with local law regulations, mayor Walter Wagner (CDU) has to deal with the deputy urgent decisions on the individual agenda items of the council meeting met. “The decisions of the members of the council were incorporated into this decision,” reports office manager Hans-Jorg Gander. “Thus urgently needed decisions were made with the participation of the members of the VG council.”
