World association cancels rowing world championships in Bled

– Published on:

Lausanne – The oars planned for August 2020 World championships in Bled, Slovenia have been cancelled and will not be made up for. This was announced by the world association Fisa.

The reason for this is the rapidly spreading global corona pandemic. Taking into account the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2021, Fisa is working on proposals for a newly structured competition calendar for 2021. The World Cup in Bled should take place from August 16 to 23, 2020.

The European Championships in Poznan had previously been postponed due to the Corona crisis. The regatta, originally planned from June 5 to 7, 2020, is now to take place in September or October. The three World Cups in Sabaudia (April 10-12), Varese (May 1-3) and Lucerne (May 22-24) were cancelled.
