WORMS – The number of people who tested positive for the Corona Virus in the city of Worms and the district of Alzey-Worms continues to increase. Again, people who had been infected with the Corona Virus have also died in the past few days. According to the health department at the Worms Clinic, two men of retirement who had contracted Covid-19 have died since Wednesday afternoon. One of the men was a resident of the Amandus Abbey. Since the outbreak of the Corona crisis in Worms, five men and one woman who have contracted Covid-19 have now died. Three of them lived in the Amandusstift senior and nursing home in Worms-Weinsheim. There, several residents and a number of employees tested positive for Corona.

As of Good Friday, 4 p.m., the health department responsible for the district and the city had 264 confirmed cases of people infected with Corona. According to the Health Department, there are now 130 infected people in the city of Worms, up from 124 on Wednesday afternoon. 36 cases are now documented in the VG Wonnegau, two days ago there were 34, in the VG Eich there are now 13 (previously 11 ) and in VG Monsheim 11 (9). So far, 109 people in the area of the health department have been released from quarantine. However, they remain in the statistics of positive cases.

When asked by this newspaper, the police reported that Good Friday was a quiet day for them. Stripes were on the move again but rarely had to do anything. Despite the wonderful weather, most people would have adhered to the ban on meetings and the ban on contacts. In a few cases, people would have kept the safety distance after being addressed by the patrol officers.

Nevertheless, there was a lot going on in particularly popular places. Several walkers strolled along the Rhine promenade, there were recognizable families together on the fairground, but the groups kept a distance from each other. However, unreasonable people can still be found. On the playground on the Rhine promenade, for example, the prohibition signs have disappeared. Promptly, children and teenagers romped there late Friday afternoon while the adults watched.
