Madrid – In Spain, which was severely affected by the corona pandemic, the number of deaths per day associated with COVID-19 disease continues to exceed 500, with 523 deaths registered within 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said.

The previous day there were 567. The total rose to 18,579. The number of infections recorded was 177,600. The daily growth rate remains comparatively low. The number of corona patients who are considered to have recovered rose by more than 3,300 to around 71,000, and the growth rates have been relatively stable for days. Across the country, almost 47 million inhabitants have had a strict ban on going out since mid-March.

This should last at least until midnight on April 25th. The government has yet to decide whether there will be gradual easing afterward.

At a parliamentary session, the conservative opposition sharply criticized Pedro Sánchez’s socialist government for its crisis management. Sánchez, however, again called for political unity in the fight against the virus. “The containment measures are working,” he emphasized.
