Technical Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Health Emergencies Program, Maria Wang Kerkkhove, thanked residents of the Chinese city of Wuhan for their efforts to combat a new type of coronavirus, Xinhua reports.

Van Kerchow congratulated Wuhan residents that the number of new-type coronavirus cases in local hospitals has dropped to zero. “We can only admire,” she said.

The representative of WHO thanked “for the tireless efforts” of the city’s residents – both doctors and ordinary citizens, who observed self-isolation measures and remained at home in the midst of an epidemic. She pointed out that the world has learned a lot from China and other countries that are now fighting a pandemic.

“We must continue to learn from Wuhan, in particular, how to remove the restrictive measures that have been introduced, how to restore the economy and normal social order in the context of regular work to prevent and control the epidemic,” Van Kerkhove said.
