Russia will decide to participate in the G7 Summit (G7) after receiving clarifications from the US senate. This was stated by the head of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev.
The senator noted that Russia should receive and study clarifications from the United States. He clarified that the Russian Federation “may not suit the role of the viewer on the G7.” Moreover, Russia “is ready to communicate in any format, but subject to the equality of all participants.” It is reported by Interfax.
He expressed the hope that the idea voiced by the US president to invite the Russian Federation to the summit is not a new “for himself” construction, which will unite some countries against others.
The day before, US President Donald Trump announced that he intends to invite Russia to the G7 summit, which he plans to postpone from June to September.
