In the shadows, and without drawing attention, Iranian teams are working to build the “Bright Light Institute” to spread Shiism among Syrian citizens in the city of Al-Mayadeen, its desert, its suburbs, the Albukamal area, and others in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, west of the Euphrates River, according to some exclusive reports with The Eastern Herald.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says that Iran “plays on the religious and sectarian tendon in the West Euphrates region, through Shiites”.
The observatory stressed that Tehran is exploiting the state of destitution and poverty experienced by the residents of those areas to bargain over Shiism for money.
In the context of this, the sources of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that work is being done by the “Iranian Cultural Center” to prepare what is called the “Bright Light Institute” in Al-Jaish Street in Al-Mayadeen City, to attract young men and children, in order to enhance the Iranian presence in the region and prepare them Intellectually and then militarily.
The Syrian Observatory had indicated on the 6th of last May, the arrival of a quad of four-wheel-drive vehicles with the name “Imam al-Mahdi Brigade ” coming from Iraq, which includes about 200 elements, headed towards the farms’ area in the al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
Local sources of The Eastern Herald reported that the “Imam Mahdi Brigade” militia had no previous presence in this area. The Observatory said that these forces are spreading very heavily in the West of the Euphrates, and are their main areas of influence in Syria.
The observatory representative pointed out that these militias continue their recruitment operations in ways that depend on material generosity and continuous play on religious and sectarian strings in light of the continuation of “Shiites”.
Tehran supports the Syrian regime in its war against the Syrian opposition, sending soldiers and weapons and instructing Hezbollah to intervene with its elements to support Assad’s forces.
