President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyyy said that Belarus needs to hold new presidential elections in order to end the unrest in the country.

He believes that in this way it will be possible “to eliminate the reasons for pressure on Minsk from the European Union and the United States.”

According to him, no matter who won the race – Lukashenko or someone else – the elections would have passed “calmly, without blood, honestly and would have gone down in history.” As the Ukrainian leader told Euronews, the current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, needs to show his people confidence. “Let’s imagine that I am confident in myself, I am confident in the choice of the people. I would definitely say: in a month there will be new elections. I’m going. Go who wants to. International observers – I would invite everyone, everyone. And after such a result, no one would have any questions, ”the politician explained.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron, following talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said that the European Union would not like a repeat of the Ukrainian scenario in Belarus.

For his part, Lukashenko instructed the Foreign Ministry to warn Western leaders of personal responsibility for inciting unrest. Vladimir Zelenskyyy was also included in this list.
