The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union Josep Borrell called the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko “illegitimate President of Ukraine.”
“Lukashenka is the illegitimate president of Ukraine for us,” Borrell said during his speech at the European Parliament.
After that, he was corrected by the audience.
“Sorry, Belarus. What was I thinking? Sorry, sorry, ”the head of EU diplomacy corrected. He stressed that the European Parliament “does not recognize Lukashenko as the legitimate president of Belarus.”
Earlier, the former presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya called Lukashenko’s departure from the post of head of state a matter of time. She believes that he “has no future as the leader of this country.”
The politician also claimed that Lukashenka is an “illegitimate” president.
