About 4,000 militants have already arrived there, Vardan Toganyan said.

In the battles in Nagorno-Karabakh, militant units are involved, which Turkey has transferred there from Syria. This was announced by the Armenian Ambassador to Russia Vardan Toganyan, as per the reports with The Eastern Herald.

“According to our information, recently about 4,000 militia have been deployed by Turkey from Syria to Azerbaijan. They are trained in militant camps,” Toganyan said.

The diplomat added that it is difficult to determine the ethnic composition of these groups.

For its part, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan stated that “people who have arrived from Syria and other countries of the Middle East” are fighting on the side of Armenia.

Earlier Toganyan said that the Armenian leadership can, if necessary, turn to Russia for new supplies of weapons. He linked this with the emergence of a “third party” in the conflict – Turkey. The diplomat recalled that Yerevan and Moscow are allies with corresponding obligations.

At the same time, as the ambassador assured, there is no talk of “external military assistance to Armenia” yet.
