President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the European Union has assured that the visa-free regime for Ukraine will not be canceled and nothing threatens him.

The head of state said this at a press conference after talks with the EU leadership during the Ukraine-EU summit in Brussels .

According to him, the full functioning of visa-free travel will resume after the coronavirus pandemic.

“We received assurances that nothing threatens the visa-free regime and that it will be restored after the pandemic,” the president said.

According to information European truth, this is also the position of the EU, which was confirmed in a joint statement following the Ukraine-EU summit on October 6.

In the document, the parties welcomed the continuation of the successful implementation of the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens and stressed the importance of continuing to fulfill the criteria for visa liberalization and accelerating the corresponding reform efforts.

Recall that the Verkhovna Rada on September 17 adopted a resolution on the appointment of representatives of the Verkhovna Rada to the commission for holding a competition for the administration of SAP. 239 people’s deputies voted for the document.

However, in the morning, the European Parliament announced that they are very concerned about this vote in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for candidates to the competition commission for the selection of the head of the SAP, who lack virtue and anti-corruption experience. Ukraine was told that the approval of such candidates is a risk for the support of the EU and the IMF.

August 21 Nazar Kholodnitsky resigned from of head of SAP… According to the statement, Kholodnitsky left of his own free will. However, he was generally dismissed from the prosecutor’s office.

In addition, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau may remain without a head – On August 28, the Constitutional Court declared the appointment of Artem Sytnik unconstitutional… The NABU director himself is not going to resign, however, disputes about the further fate of the bureau’s management are still going on.

In turn, the EU Ambassador to Ukraine Matti Maasikas said that a politically biased vote for the competition committee may result in suspension or cancellation of visa-free travel between Ukraine and the EU. The G7 (G7) has stated several times that this calls into question Western financial and political assistance to Ukraine.

The recent appointment by the Verkhovna Rada of the members of the commission for the selection of the chairman of the SAP caused a wave of criticism both in Ukraine and from the EU.
