Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was harsh on US President Donald Trump in a speech at a news conference. A total of thirteen people have now been charged with conspiracy to kidnap the governor.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today that it has halted the group’s intentions. Six have been charged with plotting to kidnap Whitmer in her summer home and seven have been charged with plotting to assassinate Michigan.

The group appears to be linked to armed right-wing extremist groups that have been protesting against coronary heart disease in the country.

Whitmer spoke at a news conference today. She put it in the context of Trump’s rhetoric and conduct, which she said had given rise to division and violence.”The President of the United States stood in front of the American people last week and refused to condemn the extremist groups of white nationalists and hate groups, which are like these two right-wing armed forces,” Whitmer said in his address today.

Whitmer’s speech can be viewed in its entirety in the player below.

She referred to Trump’s remarks in a debate between him and Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential candidate, last week, in which he was asked if he was prepared to condemn nationalists and other right-wing extremist groups. Trump did not do so either, urging such groups to “pause and wait.” However, Trump has since condemned the groups in public.

“Hate groups did not interpret the president’s remarks as reprimanded but as encouragement. As a call to action. The words of our leader’s matter. They have weight. When our leaders meet, encourage, or befriend domestic terrorists, they justify their actions. “They are guilty,” Whitmer told a news conference today.
