The United Nations World Food Program has won the Nobel Peace Prize this year. The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced this at a press conference that began at nine o’clock.

The United Nations World Food Program has won the award for its fight against world hunger and for improving conditions, thereby increasing the likelihood of peace in conflict-torn areas. The plan has also been a driving force in preventing hunger from being used as a weapon in conflict.

The website of the United Nations in Iceland states that one-third of all food aid in the world comes from the UN Food Program, which is the world’s largest organization in the field of food aid.


A total of 318 individuals and 107 organizations were nominated for the Peace Prize this year.
