Robert Azevedo, Donald Trump, President of the United States, South Korea, Trade, World Bank, World Trade Organization,

There are two applicants left for the post of director-general of the World Trade Organization – the former managing director of the World Bank Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the Minister of Commerce of South Korea, Yoo Myung Hee. The third round of consultations will begin on October 19 and will last until October 27.

Note that the previous general director of the WTO, Robert Azevedo, headed the organization from 2013 to 31 August 2020.

When the World Trade Organization was created in the mid-1990s, the US Senate actively supported its creation. But now the US and the WTO are in conflict. The President of the United States, Donald Trump, even said that membership in the WTO is not beneficial for the United States.
