In the 99th year of his life, fashion designer Pierre Cardin died. This was announced on Tuesday by the couturier family. Cardin died on Tuesday morning at the American Hospital near Paris. The cause of death was not specified.

Cardin, who comes from a family of Italian immigrants, began his path to fame at the age of 14 as a simple student of Christian Dior. In 1953 he presented his first collection. In the 1960s, the designer created the famous stage costumes of the legendary “Beatles”, which quickly became part of the image of the Liverpool four.

Cardin was the first couturier to sell his dresses and perfumes at lower prices, making them more accessible to the widest range of consumers.
