All travelers, including British nationals, are going to be required to be tested for the coronavirus negative, starting next week, to be allowed entry into England and Scotland, the British government announced on Friday.

The test should be not older than 72 hours before their departure and failure to comply will end in an instantaneous fine of £ 500 (around $ 678), consistent with a UK government statement.

UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said passengers arriving by boat, plane, or train will all need to follow these guidelines very strictly to enter the UK border.

“We have already put in place significant measures to prevent imported cases of COVID-19, but with the development of new strains of the virus internationally, we need to take additional precautions,” Shapps said.

“Combined with the mandatory self-isolation period already in place for passengers returning from high-risk countries, pre-departure testing will provide an additional line of defense that will help us control the virus as we roll out the vaccine at the pace. weeks to come, ”he concluded.
