President-elect Joe Biden has filled his diplomatic team with members from the time of President Barack Obama, with a strong desire to “repair ” the reputation of US foreign policy damaged by the actions of Donald Trump .

As early as the end of November, the future President announced that he had chosen former member of the Obama administration, Anthony Blinken, as the key secretary of state.

The Deputy Secretary of State will be Venci Sherman, 71, a diplomatic adviser under Bill Clinton.

Sherman played an important role in drafting the nuclear deal with Iran and worked on the North Korean issue in the Bill Clinton government.

America is coming back

Biden on Saturday nominated Brian McKeon, his adviser at the time he was a senator, as assistant secretary of state for management and resources. He also held various positions during Barack Obama’s two terms.

“With Anthony Blinken at the helm, the team will be tasked with ‘fixing’ and giving a new picture of American foreign policy,” Biden and Harris’ transition team said in a statement.

The future president wants to restore the United States to a “moral and leading place in the world.” “America is coming back, it is ready to show the world the way, not to retreat,” Biden’s team said.

Confirmation of the Senate

Joe Biden represents a return to professional diplomacy. On Saturday, he officially elected three deputy secretaries, three women who all worked in the Barack Obama administration.

The Senate will decide on their appointments.

Responding to criticism from those who accuse him of being surrounded only by former Obama officials, Biden stressed that the State Department will be “more open to diversity than ever.”

Biden appointed Victoria Nuland, Victoria’s top diplomat to Europe, ambassador to NATO, and State Department spokeswoman, as undersecretary for political affairs, the third-highest diplomatic mission in the United States.

As undersecretary for civil security, democracy, and human rights, he appointed Uzra Zeya, who was Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor during Barack Obama’s term.
