At least three people were killed in an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale in the Chinese autonomous region of Xinjiang, reports UPI.

The quake occurred late last night about 100 kilometers from Aksu district, and the epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Seismologists recorded 10 more small earthquakes, and the strongest was with a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale.

A total of 65 houses were damaged or destroyed, of which 16 completely collapsed.
