Sputnik-light-russia-coronavirus-vaccine-covid-19-infection-risk-again

The Sputnik Light vaccine halves the risk of COVID-19, said Alexander Gintsburg, director of the N.F. Gamaleya National Center.

“If the Light option, which is the first component of the Sputnik V vaccine, is used separately without a second vaccination, then this makes it possible to reduce the disease with this infection by 50 percent, or even 60 percent,” he said on the air of the TV channel “ Russia 1″.

According to the scientist, the use of the vaccine will help relieve the burden of medical hospitals from a large flow of cases. At the end of March, the Ministry of Health registered a “light version” of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. Like the first drug, it was developed by specialists from the Gamaleya Center together with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) on the platform of human adenoviral vectors.

The scheme assumes only one shot and a shorter period of antibody production. It is assumed that immunity after vaccination will persist for three to four months, and its effectiveness will be about 85 percent.
