Myanmar forces opened fire on anti-coup protesters, on Wednesday, leaving at least 7 people dead and several others injured, while a bloody crackdown campaign and internet services were still being challenged.

More than 580 people have been killed in the unrest in Myanmar since February 1, when the coup ended a civilian-led democracy.

The coup sparked protests and strikes across the country, despite the army’s use of lethal force to silence dissent.

Today, Wednesday, security forces opened fire on protesters in Cali, northwest of the country, who were demanding the return of the civilian government led by Aung San Suu Kyi, according to a local resident.

News websites quoted witnesses as saying that the confrontation led to deaths and injuries and that the shooting was frequent. The news outlets Mezima and Irrawaddy reported that 5 people were killed and others wounded.
