The United States is considering sending warships to the Black Sea in the next few weeks as a sign of support for Ukraine amid Russia’s growing military presence on Ukraine’s eastern border. This is reported by  CNN with reference to a spokesman for the US Department of Defense.

The Pentagon spokesman believes that the deployment of US Navy ships sent a specific signal to Moscow that Washington is closely following what is happening in the Black Sea.

At the same time, CNN recalls that the United States will need to notify Turkey 14 days in advance of its intention to enter the Black Sea.

The US Department of Defense spokesman also noted that Navy reconnaissance aircraft continue to fly in international airspace over the Black Sea to monitor the activities of the Russian fleet and any troop movements in Crimea.

According to the official, the US does not believe that the concentration of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine is a preparation for offensive actions, but “if something changes, we will be ready to respond.”

We will remind that earlier the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Russian troops are moving through their territory and do not threaten anyone in the world.
