Russia will stop using the ISS after 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said.

For flights into deep space, a transport and energy complex with a nuclear power propulsion system, which has been developed in Russia since 2010, will be created.

At a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, which took place on April 12, Cosmonautics Day, it was announced the decision to create its own space station and abandon the use of the International Space Station (ISS). This information was aired on the TV channel “Russia-1” in the program “Moscow, Kremlin, and Putin”.

“The constructions of this transport and energy module are already real. I believe that this will be a breakthrough, ”said Dmitry Rogozin, head of Roscosmos, on the air. In addition, at a meeting with the president, plans for manned flights to the moon and missions to Mars were approved.

The first ISS module was launched into orbit in 1998. Initially, it was planned that the station would operate for about 20 years, then its service life was repeatedly extended. In January 2019, the specialists of the Center named after I MV Khrunichev were informed that the equipment of the first module of the ISS “Zarya” is operating outside the warranty period.
