President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko promised to sign a decree on the transfer of powers of the head of state to the Security Council in an emergency.

The Security Council includes 20 people. Among them are the president, prime minister, chairman of the National Bank, chairman of the Supreme Court, heads of the country’s security agencies, speakers of both chambers of parliament. The eldest son of the president, Viktor Lukashenko, is also a member of the Security Council. He is the Assistant to the President for National Security.

“Tell me, if there is no president tomorrow, do you guarantee that everything will be okay? Not. Therefore, in this case, I will sign a decree in the coming days on how the government will be built in Belarus. The President was shot – the next day the Security Council will be empowered. ” At the same time, Lukashenka said that such an emergency situation is unlikely.

Alexander Lukashenko announced his plans to voice an extremely important decision after the KGB of Belarus announced the prevention of a coup attempt in the country. According to Minsk, the participants in the conspiracy were preparing the assassination of the president and the capture of his children. A week earlier, he announced that he would soon take “one of the fundamental decisions in a quarter of a century of the presidency.”

The opposition of Belarus called the information about the preparation of a coup d’etat a provocation.

On April 22, Alexander Lukashenko discussed the alleged coup attempt with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow.
