On Monday, the Iraqi authorities announced the start of the evacuation of stranded citizens in India. Because of the outbreak of the “Corona” virus.

This came in a statement by the Director-General of the Iraqi Airways Company (the national carrier), Hussain’s struggle, which Anadolu Agency reviewed.

Hussein said: “The General Company for Iraqi Airways conducted, on Monday, its first exceptional flights to India, which are intended to evacuate Iraqi citizens stranded there who have appealed to the ministry to return them to the homeland due to the difficult conditions they are exposed to as a result of the Corona pandemic.”

He explained that “the trip took place after obtaining official approvals from the Iraqi and Indian authorities.”

He stressed that “all the preventive measures stipulated in the regulations of the World Health Organization and the Supreme Committee for Health and National Safety have been taken, which include fogging the plane before and after the implementation of the flight to ensure the safety of crews and travelers, and to limit the transmission of the epidemic infection.”

The Iraqi official added, “It is hoped that the national carrier will implement other urgent evacuation flights to India after completing the approvals,” without giving details.

India is witnessing an unprecedented rise in injuries, as the Asian country has recorded more than 300,000 injuries per day since April 22, which has caused the country’s health system to become overstretched, and severe shortages of hospital beds, oxygen supplies, and medicines.
