Israeli aviation carried out airstrikes against Hamas terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, in response to the launch of incendiary balloons from the Palestinian enclave, which sparked dozens of fires in southern Israel.

Unmanned Israeli Army reconnaissance drones flew over the coastal enclave around midnight and then several explosions were heard in the southern and central Gaza Strip.

The missile attacks, as confirmed by Hamas and eyewitnesses, targeted military installations belonging to the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of that Islamic movement, with no casualties being reported for the moment.

This is the first major incident between Israel and Palestinian terrorists since the May 21 ceasefire, which ended 11 days of intense fighting.

“IDF fighter jets attacked military compounds belonging to the terrorist organization Hamas, which were used as facilities and meeting places for terrorist agents,” the Israeli Army said in a statement, adding that “the targets attacked they were used for terrorist activities ”.

The Israeli authorities recalled that they hold Hamas responsible “for all the events that occur in the Gaza Strip,” so it will “bear the consequences of its actions.”
