By the end of the year, Russia will re-equip two aviation regiments in the Central Military District (CVD) with Su-34M and MiG-31BM aircraft. This was announced on Friday, June 25, by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoygu.

According to him, the re-equipment of the regiments will lead to an improvement in the capabilities of the Central Military District for the destruction of cruise missiles and fire damage to the enemy.

“By the end of the year, the command of the military district will <...> re-equip two aviation regiments with modernized Su-34M front-line bombers and long-range fighter-interceptors MiG-31BM," Shoygu said at a meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry board. The head of the military department also said that against the background of the growing threat in the Central Asian strategic direction, the district command will have to intensify the conduct of exercises and reform a number of units and formations. "By the end of the year, the command of the military will have to form and reorganize four military units and subunits, redeploy one unit and disband one military unit," TASS quoted him as saying. It is already known that by the end of the year the district will receive 1200 units of new and modernized equipment.
