The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (government) in Qatar announced, on Monday, the completion of the grass carpets on the grounds of the Lusail Stadium, as part of preparations to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Lusail is the largest of the eight stadiums that host the World Cup matches, with a capacity of 80,000 fans, and will host the final of the largest international tournament in the world of the round witch.
The committee, which is responsible for implementing the infrastructure to host the tournament, added, through a statement, that work has been completed so far in five of the World Cup stadiums, namely: Khalifa International after its renovation, Al Janoub, Education City, Ahmed Bin Ali, and Al Bayt.
She added that it is scheduled to announce the readiness of the sixth stadium, which is Al Thumama, during its hosting of the Amir Cup final on October 22nd.
The Ras Abu Aboud Stadium will host its first matches during the 2021 Arab Cup, with the participation of 16 teams between November 30 and December 18.
The tournament will be held in six of the World Cup stadiums.
Lusail will host ten matches in the World Cup, including the final on December 18.
The tournament will be held between November 21 and December 18, 2022, with the participation of 32 teams.
Qatar will witness the most closely spaced version of the tournament, as all stadiums are located close to each other.
The longest distance between the stadiums does not exceed 75 km, which means that fans and players will travel through one airport, and they can stay in the same residence throughout the tournament competitions, and there will be no need for domestic flights or changing training facilities.
