Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the scheduled meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 29 will focus mainly on the Syria file and trade relations between the two countries.
In a press statement on Tuesday, Cavusoglu said that humanitarian aid to Syria and the Libyan file could also be on the meeting’s agenda.
In response to a question about a planned high-level visit to Egypt in the coming period, Cavusoglu said: “The meeting with the Egyptian delegation that came to Turkey and the statements after the meeting were positive for the future, and at the present time there is no planned visit at the ministerial or presidential level in present time”.
In answer to a question about whether there are contacts with the interim government in Afghanistan, Cavusoglu said: “We have meetings at the ambassadorial level. We haven’t gone there yet and they haven’t come either. They need humanitarian aid, food, and medicine, and winter is coming, we’re talking about these needs.”
Regarding the operation of Kabul Airport , the Turkish minister said: “Our talks are continuing. There are still unresolved security concerns. There is no complete clarity. Temporary charter flights exist, but the regular flights have not yet been determined, and negotiations are continuing.”
He pointed out that his country[Turkey] will send humanitarian aid to Afghanistan through Pakistan because it is faster and less expensive, and the volume of aid will be increased in the coming days.
