“HE BEATED HIM TO DEATH WITH HIS BARE HANDS” Suspect arrested for murder of street vendor in Italy

Police in Italy have arrested Filippo Claudio Giuseppe Ferrazzo (32), who is suspected of beating to death a Nigerian, Alike Ogorchukwu, a street vendor.

Ogorchukwu, 39, was selling goods yesterday on the main street of Civitanova Marche, a small town on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, when the attacker took his crutch and hit him, then continued to beat him with his fists until he killed him, according to AP.

–  The attacker went after the victim. “He first hit him with a crutch, and then, after he fell to the ground, he beat him to death with his bare hands,” said Chief City Commissioner Fabio Mazza at a press conference, according to AP.

Police identified the attacker using street cameras.

Videos of the brutal killing of Ogorchukwu have been widely circulated on Italian news sites and social media, and were taken by onlookers who did not try to stop Ferrazzo, AP reports.

police investigator Matteo Luconi told a press conference told Italian news channel Sky TG24 that onlookers called police, who responded after the suspect had fled and attempted to administer aid to the victim. An autopsy will determine if the death was provoked by blows, suffocation, or another cause, reports AP .
