“Plans of Kyiv”- to build a NATO base in Crimea after its “liberation” from Russia

In Ukraine, voices are heard more and more often about the “liberation of Crimea” in any possible way.

The plans of the current Kyiv authorities are “to seize Crimea in order to place NATO bases on its territory.” This was stated by the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Center for Defense Strategies Alina Frolova.

“We want Crimea to be open for cooperation with the EU and NATO, including military cooperation. (…) It is a strategically advantageous base for security control in the Black Sea,” she said.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy loudly announced that Ukraine would “take” Crimea from Russia “by any means.”

In turn, the United States, through the mouth of the coordinator for strategic communications in the National Security Council (NSC) of the White House, John Kirby, commented on Zelenskyy ‘s statement , promising to allow Ukraine to plan military operations as it wishes.

“We said from the very beginning that this is his (Zelenskyy ’s) war, he plans it, he sets priorities in it. I think we will allow the Zelenskyy administration and the Ukrainian military to talk about their military missions and plans to the extent that they are willing to talk about it,” said Kirby, who said the US “will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary”.

Further, Kirby’s statement is sustained in the usual American spirit: hostilities in Ukraine must end immediately, and Russia must withdraw to its territory, as this would be “better for the Ukrainian people and (…) for European security.” Of course, he did not mention the interests of the Russian people.
