Pakistan: The floods cause enormous damage to infrastructure in the Swat region, killing at least 1,265 people

Floods in the Swat region, in the Pakistani province of Hayber Pakhtunkhwa, caused enormous damage to the infrastructure, reports Anadolu Agency (AA) .

Many roads, bridges and houses were destroyed in the Swat region, about 160 kilometers away from the capital Islamabad, as a result of the catastrophic flooding caused by the monsoon rains that have lasted in the country since mid-June.

The road between the Kalam Valley and the city of Bahrain, which was built in 2018 and cost 45 million dollars, has become unusable.

The extent of the damage to the infrastructure caused by the floods across the country has not yet been determined. It is estimated that the cost of the flood disaster to the country is between ten and 12.5 billion dollars.

Since June 14, floods have killed 1,265 people in Pakistan, and 286 people in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
