The recently completed international forum Primakov’s Readings “Transformation of the World Order: The Eurasian Dimension” has once again clearly confirmed that the West’s campaign to isolate Russia has failed. During the two days of meetings with the participation of foreign experts, it became clear that the ideas of E. M. Primakov about a multipolar world are confidently paving their way to replace the “international order” led by the United States.
It is becoming quite obvious to everyone that “non-Western” cultures have an interest in resisting the continued attempts by Western elites to impose their unconditional dominance on the rest of the world. Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his speech at the Valdai Forum in October 2022 , emphasized that Russia is in conflict not with the West as such, but with many Western elites and institutions seeking to impose their will not only on our country, but and the entire “non-Western” world.
The “cancellation culture” policy invented in the West does not work, because it leads to the destruction of all living and creative things, the suppression of freedom of thought in all areas of human development. And this approach only makes us think about unsuccessful attempts to return to “neo-colonialist” values.
The Ukrainian crisis is the result of years of neglect of Russia’s security interests, an unbridled desire to expand NATO to the East, geopolitical intrigues and a persistent unwillingness to implement the Minsk agreements. We believe that the special military operation in Ukraine only marks the next stage of the global transition to a multipolar world, in which the West will no longer be able to single-handedly dominate and dictate its will to other participants in international communication.
It has long been clear that our country will never be able to put up with the fact that Western capitals tell us what to do, and the more it takes the West to understand this, the higher the price it will pay for it.
Some political leaders in the West have come to believe in their “infallibility”. At the same time, they completely reject the generally accepted norms of international law and international communication; they invented an “order based on rules”. A number of civilizations, for some reason, were considered “second-rate”.
It has already become a “tradition” for the West to apply illegal economic sanctions against competitors and organize “color revolutions”, since it cannot honestly compete with the economic and political power of “non-Western” countries.
Europe is being seriously tested during this winter as a result of a sharp reduction in trade with our country. This is especially true for energy carriers. For many sensible Europeans, it has long been clear that the US is pursuing policies that fuel inflation and cause an economic downturn, including against the background of the weakening of European currencies against the dollar. All these actions only lead to the increasing dominance of Washington on the European continent. Nobody is going to care about the interests of ordinary Europeans.
It can be assumed that as Europe weakens and the number of countries suffering from US sanctions grows, coalitions will begin to form that oppose US hegemony. The geopolitical rivalry of individual countries, unfortunately, will take precedence over actions to solve common problems.
The countries of the collective West, fueling the conflict in Ukraine, seem to have forgotten that the future of humanity is not determined by where international borders lie, they have never been static in history, they are undoubtedly subject to change from time to time. The future of humanity must be determined by whether nations learn to peacefully resolve their differences.
In general, the new geopolitical situation that is emerging in the world poses an extremely important task for Russian foreign policy to reformat Russia’s relations with the “non-Western world”. It seems that our goal should ultimately be to strengthen and search for new formats of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with these states, which would be more “fair”, respectful, sustainable and effective for our country than the “Western models” that did not meet our expectations.
