On Thursday, President Joe Biden addresses the Locksmiths Union in Springfield, Virginia. In the first major economic speech of the year, the head of the White House intends to highlight the achievements of the American economy, in particular the creation of more manufacturing jobs and the low unemployment rate.

A White House spokesperson said Biden would say his policy “lays the foundation for meaningful and sustained growth.”

The president will criticize some of the Republican proposals, which the president considers dangerous for the American economy.

Recall that the Republicans took control of the House of Representatives, after obtaining a slight majority in the midterm elections last November. The Democrats retained their majority in the Senate.

“The president will speak to the greatest threat to our economic progress: the Republican MAGA economic plan,” a White House official said.

Recall that MAGA (“Make America Great Again”) is the slogan of Republicans, supporters of former Republican President Donald Trump, whom Biden defeated in the 2020 election.

Biden has previously warned that he would veto Republican proposals for strategic oil reserves, corporate tax cuts and a federal sales tax.
