$1.6 billion for package of documents signed by Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan

On the eve of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to Kyrgyzstan, a business forum of the two countries was held in Bishkek on Jan. 26. reported press service of the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan.
Members of the government, heads of specialized ministries, regional administrations and more than 350 representatives of the business community of the two countries took part in its work.
In the speeches of the speakers during the opening ceremony of the forum, it was pointed out that trade between the two countries has increased 7 times in five years to reach 1.2 billion dollars in 2022.
However, as announced, there is potential to exceed the $2 billion mark in the near future, particularly due to increased mutual supplies of cement, coal, non-ferrous metals, agricultural products and textiles, chemical fertilizers, household and commercial equipment, pharmaceutical products.
The priority direction of cooperation is the development of industrial cooperation. Agreements were reached on the implementation of new projects in the production of automotive and commercial equipment, the launch of joint textile enterprises, the production of chemicals and the introduction of electricity accounting systems.
Large-scale projects for the development of iron, kaolin, travertine, basalt deposits are being developed with the subsequent release of high value-added products.

It aims to use the competitive advantages of both economies in agriculture. We are talking about the development of intensive gardens and modern greenhouses, the joint cultivation of potatoes, corn and meat, the creation of joint breeding complexes.
The signing of the tripartite agreement on the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project in September last year was noted. The activation of work on this strategic project is designated as a priority area for cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.
In order to create conditions for constant interaction between businessmen of the two countries, an online platform will be developed, through which representatives of enterprises will be able to conclude business contracts, find ready-to-use industrial cooperation projects employment and select business partners.
As a result, a package of more than 50 agreements was signed during the forum for a total amount of more than 1.6 billion dollars in the chemical, electrotechnical, automotive, textile, agricultural industry, the production of building materials, clothing and other fields.
Among the main documents:

“road map” on cooperation in the field of agro-industrial complex between the Ministries of Agriculture of the two countries; cooperation agreement on the creation of a production of textile products in the region of Jalal-Abad with Kyrgyzstan; a cooperation agreement in the production and processing of leather, as well as the organization of an agrocluster for potato cultivation in the Naryn region in Kyrgyzstan; cooperation agreement for the creation of a potato production agrocluster and livestock complex; partnership agreement within the framework of the implementation of the investment project “Construction of a carbide and calcium production complex in Kyrgyzstan” for 20 million dollars; agreement on the supply of grain maize from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan for 100 million dollars; Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on Organization of Appliance Assembly and Electricity Accounting in Kyrgyzstan; basalt stone processing plant production memorandum; cooperation agreement for the sale of products of Uzbek companies in Kyrgyzstan; contract for the supply of agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan.

Investment agreements were signed for 300.3 million dollars, export contracts for 1.15 billion dollars, import contracts for 223 million dollars.
