In Kyrgyzstan, the price of gasoline may drop to 5-6 soms, suggests the Antimonopoly Regulatory Service

– Published on:

From January 2023, a downward trend in wholesale gasoline prices in Kyrgyzstan was observed, which is expected to affect the price level in the retail sector.
Over the next month, following a gradual decline, the price will be adjusted by the main players in the gasoline market in the direction of a decrease to 5-6 soms. This takes into account a 1 to 1.5 month supply of fuel oil, which should be available from oil traders. About that the message of the Antimonopoly Regulatory Service of the Kyrgyz Republic says:
Taking into account that gasoline brands Ai-80 and Ai-92, diesel fuel are included in the list of socially significant goods, approved by the Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic of April 22, 2009 No. 242 “On national price regulation of certain types of socially significant goods”, the market situation is constantly monitored by retail price monitoring in all regions of the republic, which is necessary for the adoption of operational measures in case unjustified price increases.
In addition, the Service does not use the following mechanisms of influence on the situation in the conditions of market relations:
— analysis of the state of competition in this market. In order to prevent actions by economic entities, the result of which may be the abuse of their market power, aimed at violating the rules of competition in the market, the Antimonopoly Service carries out an analysis of the state of competition in this or that commodity market. According to the results of this analysis, the economic entity can be considered as the dominant entity on this market and be in the area of constant economic and statistical observation;
— in the conditions of global inflation, the Antimonopoly Service carries out important information and explanation work with the main market players and consumers;
— as a preventive measure, the recommendations and warnings issued by the Department to major players at the end of last year on the need to respect the main principles of competition, to balance the interests of entrepreneurs and consumers, as well as than on the prevention of unjustified price increases;
— carrying out explanatory work and maintaining a dialogue with the business community.
According to the results of the fuel market monitoring, the situation is as follows:
Since the beginning of 2022, average retail prices in the Kyrgyz Republic have evolved as follows:

Currently, despite the fact that in the wholesale segment, gasoline group prices have begun to fall, DT prices are maintaining a high pace. Work is carried out daily to stabilize the price of fuel.
Thus, from January 2023, there is a downward trend in the wholesale prices of the gasoline group, which should affect the price level in the retail sector.
Over the next month, following a gradual decline, the price will be adjusted by the main players in the gasoline market in the direction of a decrease to 5-6 soms. This takes into account a 1 to 1.5 month supply of fuel oil, which should be available from oil traders.
Thus, the Service, within the limits of its competence, takes all necessary measures to stabilize the price and prevent an unjustified increase in the price of fuel and diesel.
