The accused was released under house arrest in the so-called Kempirabad case, Orozayim Narmatovu. “Azattyky” reported about this his lawyer Gulyana Ubaliyeva.
According to her, due to her deteriorating health, the court reviewed the temporary restraining order. “On January 28, Orozayim fell seriously ill and was taken to hospital by ambulance. On January 30, in the second half of the day, the court released her urgently under house arrest,” Ubaliyeva said. .
The court has yet to comment on its decision.
Orozayim Narmatova is one of those detained in the Kempirabad case. On December 14, 2022, after the Pervomaisky District Court extended the restraining order, Narmatova declared a hunger strike with the rest of the prisoners in protest (she later ended the action ). Ombudsman Atyr Abdrahmatova and her lawyer said Narmatovoy had health problems. On December 21, a doctor performed an examination at a private medical center and found that she had heart disease.
On December 27, when Orozayim Narmatova’s request for defense was considered, the situation escalated – she fell to the bench. An escort took her to court and an ambulance arrived at court.
Kempirabad Water Reservoir Protection Committee has demanded delivery of detained politicians Azimbek Beknazarova, Ravshana Jeenbekova, Mambetzhunusa Abylova and activist Taalaibeka Madaminova to hospital for treatment. Information about this is published on the committee’s Facebook page.
According to the authors of the appeal, during the detention of law enforcement agencies, there are three chronic illnesses of some of the detainees and their old age.
“We believe that the law enforcement agencies will not remain indifferent to the human life and health of political prisoners in detention”, – it is stated in the appeal of the members of the committee.
Previously, on January 27, ex-MP Ravshan Jeenbekov appealed to Prosecutor General Kurmankulu Zulushevu, Justice Minister Ayazu Baetov, as well as the National Center for the Prevention of Torture with a request for treatment outside the remand center-1 . According to the politician, the doctor carried out an analysis, the results of which revealed that he had liver problems.
The Sentence Enforcement Service has not commented on the candidacy of members of the Kempirabad Reservoir Protection Committee.
In October 2022, law enforcement officers arrested more than 20 politicians and activists on suspicion of “preparing to organize mass riots”. Since then, they have been in custody. According to the arrested persons themselves, the criminal case against them was “fabricated”. They claim that their position on the Kempirabad water reservoir and the creation of a committee for its protection is not favorable to the Kyrgyz authorities. A number of major human rights organizations have condemned the detention of politicians and activists.
On January 18, lawyer Gulyana Ubalieva reported that the Interior Ministry had imposed strict secrecy on the “Kempirabad affair”. However, the Interior Ministry refused to comment on this decision to “Azattyky”.
The representative of the institute, the mediator and the independent doctor have repeatedly stated that there were health problems among some of the participants.
President Sadyr Japarov, commenting on the accused’s arrest, said that “more than 90% of those arrested today took part in closed-door discussions on the border issue and should know that the issue was resolved in Kempir-Aba in favor of the KR”. According to him, the prisoners “people of the country” tried to organize a “coup d’etat”.
