The United States on Tuesday added seven Iranian companies to the sanctions list for the production of drones that Russia uses in its war of aggression against Ukraine.

Earlier this month, Canada announced plans to purchase a US-made NASAMS short-to-medium range air defense system for Ukraine that protects against drone, missile and aircraft attacks. . The United States has already provided Ukraine with two NASAMS systems and will provide more soon.
Other ground-based air defense systems, including the Patriot system made by Raytheon Technology Corp, have been promised to Kiev by the UK, the US and the Netherlands.
The following Iranian companies have been added to the list: Aircraft Engine Design and Manufacturing, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Research and Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization, Oje Parvaz Mado Nafar Company, Parawar Pars Company, Qods Aviation Industry and Shahed Aerospace Industry.
The Commerce Department report notes that Iranian drones are being transferred to Russia for use in Ukraine, which is contrary to U.S. national security and foreign policy interests.
