The EU intends to establish an international center in The Hague to investigate Russian crimes in Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen during an official visit to Kiev. “The center will coordinate the collection of evidence, it will be part of the joint investigation team, which is supported by our Eurojust agency,” von der Leyen said.
In addition, the European Council, the EU’s highest political body, agreed on Thursday to provide Ukraine with the seventh military assistance package worth 500 million euros, as well as 45 million euros – the European Union Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM Ukraine) for the training of the Ukrainian army.
In this regard, EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell stressed that this additional aid “sends a clear signal at a critical time: we will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary and for as long than necessary”.
EUMAM was created in November 2022, and according to EU plans, already in the first half of 2022, about 15,000 Ukrainian servicemen will be able to undergo training in the operation of Western-type weapons.
