Russia plans to use foreign saboteurs to remove Moldova’s leadership

– Published on:

Moldovan President Maia Sandu said on Monday that Russia planned to use foreign saboteurs to depose Moldova’s leadership, prevent its EU membership and use it in the war against Ukraine.

Sandu made the statement days after the country’s government resigned.

Recall that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said last week that his country had revealed the Russian secret service’s plan “to destroy Moldova”.

Sandu has repeatedly expressed concern about Moscow’s intentions towards Moldova and the presence of Russian troops in Transnistria.

According to her, the plan envisaged the entry into Moldova of citizens from Russia, Montenegro, Belarus and Serbia in order to try to provoke protests with the aim of “changing the legitimate government into an illegal government controlled by the Federation of Russia”.

“The Kremlin’s attempts to introduce violence into Moldova will not work. Our main objective is the security of citizens and the state. Our goal is peace and public order in the country,” Sandu told a press briefing.
