The administration of US President Joe Biden is not ready to supply Ukraine with ATACMS long-range missiles due to the lack of surpluses of these weapons.
This is reported by the Politico newspaper, citing sources.
Journalists from the publication spoke with four people familiar with the course of negotiations between Ukraine and the United States regarding the supply of arms.
According to them, Washington believes that the transfer of ATACMS missiles to Kiev will lead to the depletion of American arsenals and reduce the readiness of the United States for possible conflicts in the future.
At the same time, the publication’s sources note that Kiev may ask the United States to approve the purchase of ATACMS from other countries, using American financial assistance.
Among the states that have these missiles in service, Politico cites Poland, South Korea, Romania, Greece, Turkey, Qatar and Bahrain.
